Open competitions to create Greeting Cards and Audiovisual Feature series

The Communication and Society Research Centre has launched two competitions aimed at students merit of Communication Sciences (and related areas). The initiative belongs to the "Greeting Cards: Towards a socio-semiotic image and imagination” research project team
One of competitions aimed at creating a series of six Greeting Cards depicting the History of Media and will be a digital camera as premium (Regulation available here).
The other tender proposed the creation of an audiovisual reporting that portrays the use that people today still do the postcards. The prize is a digital camera (Regulation available here).
The winning entries will be on display at the World Communication Sciences Conference, IAMCR, to be held at the University of Minho, in July 2010.
The deadline for submission of papers until 31 May 2010.


 

For the very first time, Portugal will host the IAMCR conference! The Communication and Society Research Centre, responsible for the local conference organization is pleased and honoured to serve this worldwide community of media and communication researchers.

The submission of abstracts is over! Two thousand abstracts were submitted and the review process is now taking place. Announcement of acceptances will be made on March 15 and full papers are due on April 30. Please remember that you can only register at the lowest price (early registration fee) until 30 April.

This unit is a permanent research structure affiliated with the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. It was created in September 2002 to provide an institutional framework for integrating the growing body of research and the increasing number of researchers in the Department of Communication Sciences. CECS aims to promote and strengthen the status of Communication Sciences within the framework of Social Sciences; to develop research on Communication Sciences within the Portuguese Speaking Countries; and to reinforce relations with similar organisations in Portugal and abroad.
