CECS researcher receives EUPRERA PhD Award for Excellent Doctoral Thesis

Evandro Oliveira, a CECS researcher, received an european award for best doctoral dissertation in the area of Public Relations. Awarded by the European Public Relations Education and Research Association (EUPRERA), in partnership with the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) and International Communications Consultancy Organization (ICCO), this award aims to stimulate academic discussion and build knowledge in Communication Management throughout the Europe.

The thesis “Strategic Communication: The Instigatory Theory of NGO Communication (#ITNC)”, by Evandro Oliveira surpervised by Teresa Ruão and Helena Sousa, from the Communication and Society Research Centre at the University of Minho and Ansgar Zerfaß, from the Leipzig University, in Germany, was chosen by the jury chaired by Betteke van Ruler and Günter Bentele.

According to EUPRERA, the Jury decided unanimously that Evandro Oliveira’s theses was the best in the whole field of applications, fulfilling all the criteria in an excellent manner. “Complexity and appropriateness of the underlying theory, sophisticated empirical studies, practical orientation and suitability for practice are characteristics that distinguish this thesis”.
