Next Wednesday, September 8, 2021, from 3 to 4 p.m., a public online event will officially launch LEME – Online Media Literacy and Education, a website that aggregates, organizes and references resources to support media education.
LEME provides an aggregator of different types of media literacy resources (audio, images, games, activity plans, videos) to serve as a tool to facilitate the work of educators and teachers, from pre-school to secondary school, who want to explore media-related learning.
This initiative is promoted by the Assistant Secretary of State for Education, João Costa, and by the Secretary of State for Cinema, Audiovisual and Media, Nuno Artur Silva, developed by a Working Group with representatives from CENJOR, LUSA agency, ISCTE and OBERCOM, MILObs and the Communication and Society Research Centre from the University of Minho, Público na Escola, the School Libraries Network, the Journalists Union, Visão Júnior, the Directorate-General of Education, the Regulating Authority for the Media (the last two, in collaboration with SGPCM, also representing GILM – Informal Group on Media Literacy), and, individually, the journalist and researcher Paulo Pena and the teacher and trainer Vítor Tomé.
