There are many challenges for structuring, organizing and sustaining the careers of young artists, groups and small cultural entities in Brazil. The present context gives even more dramatic contours to its quest for affirmation and permanence. It is these challenges that will be addressed by Romulo Avelar in the next Permanent Seminar promoted by POLObs on March 7, at 2:30 pm, in the ICS meeting room.
Romulo Avelar is an administrator and cultural manager. He studied at the Cultural Production School of Fundição Progresso in Rio de Janeiro, worked in cultural initiatives of several companies and in the public area, as Director of Promotion of the Clóvis Salgado Foundation – Palácio das Artes, Belo Horizonte, Special Advisor to the Secretary of State for Culture of Minas Gerais, President of the Technical Committee for Project Analysis of the State Law of Incentive to Culture and President of the Municipal Foundation of Culture of Belo Horizonte. He was a planning consultant for Grupo Galpão and Casa do Beco and advised dozens of artists, groups and cultural entities. In the last twenty years, he has taught courses in the areas of production, planning and cultural management in several Brazilian cities. Author of the books “O Avesso da Cena: notes on production and cultural management” and “From Grupo Galpão to Galpão Cine Horto: an experience of cultural management”.
