Clarisse Alves Monteiro Pessôa holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho, with a thesis titled “Education for media in a school context: action research with elementary school children”. Currently, she collaborates as a lecturer in the Degree in Communication Sciences at the University of Minho and manages the Strategic Communication of 30 scientific research projects conceived within the framework of the Bosch-UMinho partnership.

As a researcher, she participated in several international scientific projects: 1) “Communication policies, public broadcasting and citizenship: subsidies for socio-cultural development in Portugal and Brazil”, funded by the Scientific and Technological Cooperation Agreement between the Foundation for Science and Technology FCT and CAPES and 2) “E-Media Education Lab”, funded by the European Union and in cooperation with partners from Belgium, Italy, France, Finland and England. Shee was also a research fellow in the projects “Creative Schools” (funded by the NSRF) and “Postcards Illustrated: for a socio-semiotics of image and imaginary” (financed by the FCT).

She is a member of the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences (Sopcom), the Group of Young researchers in Communication Sciences and the European Communication Research and Education Association (ECREA).
