Fábio Ribeiro finished his European PhD in Communication Sciences in 2013, in the field of Sociology of Communication, by the University of Minho (including a doctoral research period of six months at the Autonomous University of Barcelona – UAB). He is currently an Assistant Guest Professor of the Department of Letters, Arts and Communication of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD).

His research focus on the general grasp of radio and sound studies, particularly on community radio in Europe and South America (legal framework, communication for development and media literacy). He is also interessed in the field of communication science, namely the strategies carried out by research centres to enhance the visibility of the scientific outcomes of the researchers.

He is a member of Sopcom (The Portuguese Assocation for the Communication Sciences) and ECREA and a former intern in news radio TSF and communication consultant in the business scope.
