PhD in Communication Sciences, University of Minho, with the thesis entitled “The use of the Internet by seniors: Uses and gratuities”, guided by Professor Doctor Jean-Martin Rabot, conducted under funding from FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology.

Mafalda Oliveira holds a master’s degree in Sociology, on Development and Social Policy and a degree in Sociology from the same University.

She was a member and coordinator of the Young Researchers Working Group on Communication Sciences at SOPCOM.

Having already been a Citizenship Trainer and Training Manager at IEFP, she currently works as a Senior Technician at APN – Portuguese Neuromuscular Association, managing the CAVI (Independent Life Support Center) of the same Association.

The main research areas are: sociology of communication; online socialities; active aging; social and digital inclusion.
