Deconstructing Risk and Otherness: hegemonic scripts and counter-narratives on migrants/refugees and ‘internal Others’ in Portuguese and European mediascapes”, provided a background about the project focusing on mediascapes, the construction of otherness (migrants, refugees and “internal others”) in the context of borders and its societal impacts.

It is interesting to discover and understand how the festivities were originally created and celebrated, the contribution of the festivities to shaping their communities, the relationship between the festive celebration and community identities, contemporary reconfigurations and uncertainties involved in such cultural manifestations, and how scientific knowledge and reflexive communication strategies can contribute to ensuring the sustainability of local communities and their festivities.

The thesis, supervised by Jean-Martin Rabot, has the title “Internet use by seniors: uses and gratuities”. The candidate obtained the highest mark of this university: very good unanimously.
Patrícia Silva: new PhD in SociologyThe Ph.D. proceedings of Patrícia Maria Teixeira da Silva on Sociology was held on February 19, at 2:00 p.m., in the Institute of Social Sciences. The thesis, supervised by Alice Matos and Roberto Martínez Pecino, has the title “Old Social Networks, New Means of Communication: the importance of Social Networks and the use of the Internet for the Quality of Life of 50+ year olds”. The candidate obtained the highest mark of this university: very good unanimously.
