“Festivity and its social space: the case of ‘Bugiada’ and ‘Mouriscada’ Sobrado” will be the subject of debate of an open class taking place on November 22, at 17h00, in the ICS of the University of Minho.
Within the scope of the subject Intercultural Communication of the Cultural Studies course, the case of ‘Bugiada’ and ‘Mouriscada de Sobrado’ will be discussed by Manuel Pinto, professor of the Communication Sciences department.
Manuel Pinto holds a PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho (1996) and is full Professor at the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho, where he teaches in the areas of Journalistic Studies and Media Literacy. He is the Director of UM’s PhD in Communication Sciences. Manuel Pinto has developed research on Media Literacy, Media Sociology and Communication Policy. He coordinated the Portuguese team that participated in the European project EMEDUS (European Media Literacy Education Study), funded by the European Commission. He is an elected member of the General Council of the University of Minho and, since 2014, integrates the Independent General Council of Radio and Television of Portugal S.A.
