“Trademark Registration: the convergences between Communication and Law” is the theme of the seminar that will take place on September 30, at 2:30 pm.
This seminar aims to bring together the areas of Communication and Law, seeking that the interdisciplinary discussion guides the construction of paths in which Communication professionals and scholars incorporate the strategic use of the Trademark Registration System in their investigations and practices.
Luís Couto Gonçalves, full professor at UMinho Law School, will address the issue of “Protection of brands”, Sara Balonas, professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at UMinho and researcher at CECS, will present a communication on “creation and management of brands and its legal protection” and, finally, Elaine Vianna Saraiva, from the National Institute of Industrial Property in Brazil and visiting researcher at CECS, will present a “case study about the Xerox brand”.
The final debate will be moderated by Teresa Ruão, professor in the Communication Sciences Department of UMinho and a member of the CECS board.
