What is the current state of electronic monitoring, at national and international level? How can its development be anticipated in light of the growth of artificial intelligence systems? What ethical, social and political challenges emerge from its expansion in scope and range? What are the social, family, economic and penal impacts of serving sentences and measures under electronic monitoring? These are some of the questions under discussion.
Organized by the E-Monitoring project, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology under the Restart program (2023.00030.RESTART) and hosted by the Communication and Society Studies Center of the University of Minho, this conference proposes a critical reflection on the challenges of electronic monitoring.
The event will bring together a diverse group of national and international experts, including Mike Nellis, Kristel Beyens, Edna Erez, Ricardo Campello and Nuno Caiado.
The conference will also include the presentation of the final results of the E-Monitoring project, coordinated by Rafaela Granja, and a round table dedicated to its discussion.
The participation in the conference is free of charge, but registration is mandatory using this form.
