40 abstracts were submitted for presentation at the 3rd Conference “Paths in the Knowledge, Science and Technology in Portugal”, organized by CECS and the Working Group on Knowledge, Science and Technology, of the Portuguese Sociology Association. The conference is scheduled for 7th-8th September 2017, in the Gualtar campus of the University of Minho, in Braga.

According to Emília Araújo, a CECS researcher and a member of the Organizing Committee, it is intended to “discuss the implications of science and technology in several dimensions of society. This will be the perfect opportunity to show the relevance of Sociology for political and social intervention”. Anabela Carvalho, also from CECS and involved in the organization, “by adressing several pressing Portuguese and international cases, the conference will be an important space for collective learning and reflection on science, technology and knowledge, as well as connected issues such as environmental risks and citizenship”.

Ulrike Felt, from the University of Wien and currently serving as President of EASST (European Association for the Study of Science and Technology), will be the Keynote Speaker. The event will also host a roundtable with civil organizations in these areas as well.
