The 6th Food and Sustainability Seminar will be held on October 15 at 12.30 pm at the Grill Bar on the University of Minho’s Gualtar campus. Dedicated to the theme ‘Food through the Senses’, it is an opportunity to explore food from new sensory perspectives and is an activity organised as part of Braga’s Sustainable Food Week 2024.
This year, an immersive and interactive experience is proposed, where participants can discover how the absence of light can transform how we perceive and relate to food. The event challenges participants to reflect on the impact of vision on the food experience and invites them to analyse how this sensory dimension can influence more conscious and sustainable choices. It will provide a sensory journey that will allow them to deepen their understanding of the link between food and sustainability.
The seminar will be attended by Miguel Bandeira, the University’s Pro-Rector for Sustainability and Campus Management, Sandra Rodrigues, Event Consultant at the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library, Márcio Acselrad, Professor of Psychology and Communication at the University of Fortaleza, Liliana Sousa, President of the Order of Nutritionists, and Cynthia Luderer, Researcher at the Communication and Society Research Centre.
This event is being held in partnership with Braga City Council, the Braga Business Association, UMinho’s Social Action Services, the Communication and Society Research Centre, UMinho’s Quality, Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Office, the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library, the University of Fortaleza, the Order of Nutritionists, ToBeGreen, Biobrassica, the STOL of UMinho’s School of Sciences and Biology Department and ATAHCA.
