Observer of the world, attentive to the fracturing issues of contemporary society, Zygmunt Bauman is one of the most renowned authors in the field of Social Theory. Communitas talks to Izabela Wagner, associate professor of sociology at the Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, about the recent biography she wrote about the Polish sociologist and philosopher. The conversation will take place on December 17th and will be broadcast simultaneously on Zoom and on the Communitas Facebook.
This is the first biography of the author who passed away in 2017. The life of the anti-establishment thinker and one of the leading names of the 20th century was marked by different conflicts both as an intellectual, as a Jew in Poland, the Soviet Union, Israel and the United Kingdom. The book that now reaches bookstores has been published in English by Polity Press and in Portuguese by Brazilian publisher Zahar.
