Ana Claudia Nepote, a biologist from the University of Guadalajara and a Master of Marine Ecology from CICESE, is a Ph.D. in Sustainability Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and spent a month at CECS for a Ph.D. internship.
Her research focuses on environmental communication, particularly on issues related to sustainability, anthropocentric and biodiversity. Oriented in Portugal by Anabela Carvalho, Ana Claudia Nepote seeks to study the relationship between science and society and how they shape different cultures about science and the environment.
In an interview, the CECS visiting researcher said that this internship “has served a lot to get to know the field of study in science communication in Portugal”, adding that “it is an emerging area that is just beginning in Mexico”.
Since 2012, she is an associate professor at the National School of Higher Education at UNAM and participates, as a teacher, in the Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Materials Science courses at ENES Unidad Morelia.
