The Communication and Society Research Center (CECS) presents the MILobs, an observatory whose activity will be centered on Media Education and Media Literacy. The initiative will take place on July 6, at 2:30 pm, in the Institute of Social Sciences.
The event will be attended by Moisés de Lemos Martins (CECS director), Manuel Pinto (MILobs coordinator), Sara Pereira (MILobs coordinator), Teresa Calçada (National Reading Plan Commissioner) and Agustín García Matilla (expert of Media Education and vice-rector of the University of Valladolid).
MILobs is a non-profit service that aims to take on a prominent role in the documentary and informational field in its specific area. At the same time, it is proposed to be a resource center, a network of initiatives and projects, at national and international level and a basis for launching initiatives and services, namely in consulting, training of educational agents, projects of research and intervention, in the production of materials and in the evaluation of policies. It will use the competences of the CECS, its partners and other entities, national or foreign.
In a time of misinformation and fake news, it is necessary and urgent to focus on the promotion of critical skills to the media and new digital networks and platforms, both for informed reading and for enlightened use.
This event is a partnership with the GILM – Informal Group of Media Literacy.
Admission is free, but subject to registration.
