CECS is taking part in European Researchers’ Night 2026

CECS is taking part in the 2026 edition of the European Researchers’ Night (ERN), which will take place on 25 September at Forum Braga, as part of the team from the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) at the University of Minho.
This initiative, which annually brings together educational institutions, research centres and other partners in an effort to bridge the gap between the public and science, is taking place this year in three Portuguese cities: Braga, Évora and Lisbon.

In Braga, the event is being organised by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Minho, which is preparing a programme featuring over 200 activities*, including scientific experiments, demonstrations, workshops, debates, a poster exhibition and installations. At a local level, the event is organised in partnership with the municipalities of Braga, Guimarães, Famalicão, Vieira do Minho, Ponte de Lima, Fafe and Viana do Castelo; the INL – International Iberian Nanotechnology Laboratory; the National Centre for Advanced Computing; and the School of Engineering, the School of Economics, Management and Political Science, and the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Minho. There will also be a science fair featuring primary and secondary schools from Braga, Guimarães, Vila Nova de Famalicão and Vila Verde

From 2.30 pm on the 25th, a range of activities will take place to showcase the work of researchers, centres (CECS, CICS, CRIA, Lab2PT) and departments within the ICS.

CECS will be represented by its researchers (Sara Pereira, Bruna Brito, Emília Araújo, Márcia Silva), projects (EASING, ForMAT, EcoCare, CLIMART-D, GENTEEL) and platforms (PolObs, Virtual Museum of the Lusophone World, Passeio, CONCILIARE, Communitas)

Also on display throughout the event will be the multimedia installation “Design After Control: Infrastructures of the Visible”, by Ilídio Menezes, from the Master’s in Media Arts.
