CECS present at the V International Congress on Cultures at UBI

The 5th International Congress on Cultures “What Culture(s) for the 21st Century?” will take place at the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, from November 6th to 8th.

About two dozen CECS researchers participated in the event in the discussion on Cultures, Media, Education, Citizenship, Lusophone and Artistic Expressions.

The organization proposes that the 5th International Congress on Cultures – What Culture (s) for the 21st Century? It is a space for broad debate, contributing to the development and consolidation of the research community, in Social and Human Sciences in the Portuguese-speaking world.

The “5th International Congress on Cultures – What Culture (s) for the 21st Century?” comes from a scientific and academic partnership between the University of Beira Interior, the University of Minho, the Federal University of Bahia and the Federal University of Recôncavo da Bahia.

International Seminar “Memory, Diversity and Identities: Challenges for Intercultural Relations in the 21st Century”

The International Seminar on “Memory, Diversity and Identities: Challenges to Intercultural Relations in the 21st Century” will take place at the Central Library Auditorium of the University of Beira Interior (UBI) in Covilhã, which opens the work of the “5th International Congress on Cultures – What Culture (s) for the 21st Century?”.

Organized in partnership with the University of Beira Interior, it is the responsibility of the project Memories, cultures and identities: how the past weights on this day intercultural relations in Mozambique and Portugal?, Funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology and the Aga Foundation Khan for Development.

Language, Communication and Culture Policies in the Lusophone Space

The “5th International Congress on Cultures – What Culture (s) for the 21st Century?” will devote space to the presentation of the latest book published by the Communication and Society Research Centre. The launch is scheduled for November 8, at 12.00, at the University of Beira Interior.

Edited by Moisés de Lemos Martins and Isabel Macedo, Language, Communication and Culture Policies in the Lusophone Space is part of a strategy of “counter-hegemonic combat, producing scientific knowledge in Portuguese” and thus contributing to the “projection and for the consolidation of a Lusophone scientific community in the field of CSH”.

Anabela Gradim, António Rubim, Eliseu Mabasso, Emilia Araújo, Isabel Macedo, Mapera Martins, Moisés Martins, Paulo Serra, Renata Pitombo, Rita Aragão, Rita Ribeiro and Urbano Sidoncha are some of the researchers participating in this publication who will also be attending the congress.
