Applications are open for the presentation of articles and artistic works for the Conference “Sound Experiences” 2022, within the scope of the Audire project. The conference will take place in Braga, from 27 to 28 June. The call ends on February 10.
“Audire – Audio Repository: keeping sound memories” is a project that aims to raise social awareness about the relevance of sound as a form of expression and explore the innovative and creative potential of sound narratives.
Deeply structured around models of visual communication, Western societies invest a significant part of their cultural productions in the image. As a result, both learning and representation processes are centred on visuality patterns that make the human experience an essentially visual phenomenon. Although daily life and social and cultural history also have a sound matrix, as a source of information and knowledge as relevant as word and image, the acoustic environment is perceived as a secondary reality. In fact, even though listening is a permanent activity, sound is a language often neglected both in its expressive dimension and its identity extension.
