Aiming to publishing the book ‘The lie is the message. Media, misinformation and literacy,’ a call for original chapters is open until 30 January 13 February (extended deadline).
Edited by Sara Pereira and Luís Miguel Loureiro, this publication aims to offer an interdisciplinary and integrated perspective on one of the most pressing challenges of our time — disinformation. It seeks to connect the media environment, information disorders, and literacy practices, exploring their implications for democracy, citizenship and social trust.
The book will be structured in two main sections:
1. Theoretical and critical reflections, authored by invited scholars;
2. Empirical and analytical studies, selected through this open call.

Language: Portuguese or English. Accepted chapters must be translated into Portuguese by the authors.
Title: concise and informative.
Author identification: name, institutional affiliation, country, email address, and ORCID.
Abstract: maximum 300 words, summarizing objectives, methods, key findings, and conclusions.
Keywords: 4–5 words, separated by semicolons.
Length: maximum 6,000 words (including references).
Structure: divide the text into numbered sections (1, 1.1, 1.1.1).
Copyright: authors are responsible for securing rights to images, tables, and figures.
Funding: indicate if the work received institutional or project support.

Use APA 7th Edition for all references. Convert all reference fields to plain text before submission.
All manuscripts will undergo double-blind peer review. Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, chapters will be accepted, accepted with revisions, or rejected.
