Culture, Arts, Communities and Participation Cicle – 2nd Session

The second session of the ‘Culture, Arts, Communities and Participation’ series of meetings will take place on 5 May. This initiative is organised by the CECS’s ‘Culture, Arts and Communities’ research group, under the coordination of Manuel Gama and Micaela Altamirano.

This session, led by Manuel Gama, is themed “STORIES IN THE SQUARE” and will take place in the historic centre of Viana do Castelo. At 4.00 pm, in Praça da República, Pedro Sena Nunes will lead a viewing of the 2026 Film Creation Workshop, and at 9.30 pm, at the Sá de Miranda Theatre, there will be the premiere of the films produced in the 2025 Workshop.

According to the organisers, the activities in this cycle aim to ensure spaces where communities take centre stage within the university’s learning environment, particularly within the context of the CECS’s research line on Culture, Arts and Communities. They are based on the understanding that practices involving work with communities and the agents who implement them play a fundamental role in the production of knowledge, both in the academic context and in society at large. In this sense, the proposals aim to promote the exchange of knowledge, the sharing of working methodologies and the identification of synergies for the development of new and diverse initiatives that involve communities and the university in a collaborative and horizontal manner.

Access to these activities is free
