The inaugural session of the master’s degree in Science Communication will take place on October 6, at 6 pm, in the Amphitheatre of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho (Gualtar).
Dedicated to the theme “Open Science: emergency response or new normality?”, the session, which kicks off the academic year 2021-2022, will have the participation of Eloy Rodrigues, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Open Access Repositories Confederation.
Eloy Rodrigues is the Director of the Documentation Services of the University of Minho. In 2003, he led the creation of RepositoriUM – the university’s institutional repository and, since 2008, he coordinates the UMinho team developing the project Repositórios Científicos de Acesso Aberto de Portugal (RCAAP).
He is a member of the EUA Expert Group on Science 2.0/Open Science, representing the Council of Rectors of Portuguese Universities. He also coordinates UMinho’s participation in projects such as OpenAIRE and FOSTER, funded by the EU and related to repositories and open access. In 2015, he was elected President of the Executive Board of the Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR), which he holds until today.
He is also a member of the Working Group – National Open Science Policy, created by the Portuguese Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education.
