Conference “José Craveirinha. Poet of Historical Reparation”

On May 26th, at 9.30 a.m., in the Small Auditorium of the Vila Real Municipal Theatre, the conference “José Craveirinha. Poet of Historical Reparation”.

In the context of the birth centenary of the Mozambican poet José Craveirinha, this colloquium seeks to look at and reflect in a shared manner on Craveirinha’s legacy as a man and thinker who, through his poetic writing and his attentive citizen’s gaze, was able to deconstruct, map, analyse and interpret the post-independence, colonial Mozambican context with rigour and sagacity. Above all, human life in its continuous clash between history, memory and identity.

Poet of a nation in constant evolution, Craveirinha made his poetry the master tool to map absences, inequalities, sorrow, pain, mourning and death, but also fraternity, hope, love, tenderness and the constant exercise of human dignity.

The scientific committee of the conference includes the following researchers: Debora Mazza, Esser Jorge Silva, Ezra Nhampoca, Fernando Moreira, Gonçalo Fernandes, Orquídea Ribeiro, Sheila Khan, Tânia Machonisse and Vítor de Sousa.

The event will be broadcast via streaming.
