The Conference on “Relations between the Iberian Peninsula and Japan: from the 16th century up to now” was held on 7 and 8 March at the ILCH auditorium, in a joint organization of the Lusíadas Studies Center, Department of Asian Studies and CEHUM (ILCH), the Department of History and the CECS (ICS).
The Conference was an important meeting point among several university professors, most of them from Aichi University in Japan (but also from Kanazawa University) and the University of Minho, and also the participation of several communicators from CHAM-Centro de História de Além-Mar of the New University of Lisbon.
According to the researcher Isabel Sá, from CECS, “the scientific environment was multidisciplinary, aiming to highlight the existence of a common past to the Iberian Peninsula and Japan, and to enable future contacts that enhance its study, as well as the exchange between the University of Minho and the University of Aichi”.
