The CONCILIARE project (CECS/UMinho) is one of the partners in the latest edition of the Paraíso Festival, which will present a cultural programme across three venues in Braga on 11 and 12 September – the Theatro Circo, gnration and the Centésima Página bookshop.
Centred on the theme ‘Past and Future in Afro-descendant Cultures’, the event celebrates artistic expressions of Afro-descendant and Portuguese-speaking communities by bringing together debate, cinema, gastronomy, music, critical thinking and cultural mediation.
The festival invites artists, researchers, cultural mediators and civil society to take a critical look at the past in order to understand and challenge its cultural legacies and build new realities. It thus proposes a dialogue between artistic creation, memory and coloniality.
With curatorial coordination by Nuno Abreu, the initiative features curation of thought and mediation by Rosa Cabecinhas, Bantumen and Kitty Furtado.
