The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) released the result of the evaluation of the call for scientific research and technological development projects (IC&DT) for the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Montesinho Natural Park region. Of the 60 applications submitted to the competition, 6 were recommended for funding. One of the funded projects has the collaboration of CECS researcher, João Sarmento.
“Sustainable approaches to the rehabilitation and revitalization of the cultural heritage built in the Montesinho Natural Park” is the project in question, coordinated by Javier Ortega and with a budget of 248,926.82 euros.
The set of selected projects, which will last 36 to 48 months, translates into a total investment of 1.4 million euros.
The Montesinho Natural Park, being the last relief in the northeast of Portugal, facilitates privileged areas to monitor and deepen the study of climate change, as well as to develop mitigation measures and actions in due time. Taking as a benchmark the promotion of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary R&D activities to be carried out in the Montesinho Natural Park, this competition aims to make its projection for the future, developing new knowledge in several thematic areas, in a perspective of scientific and multidisciplinary cultural.
