“Cultures: Past & Present” participates in the celebration of the World Day of the Portuguese Language

May 5 is the World Day of the Portuguese Language and the researchers of the “Cultures: Past & Present” project will participate in a set of commemorative activities.

The World Day of the Portuguese Language was proclaimed by the 40th General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in November 2019. The choice of the day is articulated with the 2009 resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) on the Institution of the Day of Portuguese Language and Culture in the CPLP.

Project researchers will participate in the following activities:

  • World Portuguese Language Day Seminar, Centro Cultural Vila Flor, Guimarães. Organisation: Guimarães City Hall, University of Minho and Camões Institute. Starting at 9 a.m.
  • Cycle of Debates Promotion and Diffusion of the Portuguese Language: Global Strategies and National Policies. Organisation: Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries. Formal sitting at 10 a.m. followed by a panel.
  • International Day of the Portuguese Language – PLOAD, Portuguese Language Office of Astronomy for Development/Grupo Lusófono de Astronomia para o Desenvolvimento. Organisation: PLOAD , established by the International Astronomical Union and its Astronomy for Development Office.
