The scientific programme for the IX International Congress for the Study of Mediation and Conflict is now available. With the theme “Mediation and the Construction of Coexistence and Peace”, the congress will be held on October 16 and 17 at the University of Minho (Braga) and on October 18 at the Lusófona University (Porto).
The event seeks to give continuity to the aims assumed by the Conference of Universities for the Study of Mediation and Conflict (CUEMYC), in the study of conflicts, mediation and new methodologies in peace-building.
This congress is being held at a time of great challenges facing societies, organisations and individuals. Peace is an essential asset to be protected and is threatened not only by wars but also by structural and symbolic violence, which denounce situations of discrimination, exclusion, conflict, precariousness and the weakening of people. The development of democracy, the affirmation of citizenship and the promotion of coexistence therefore continue to require action methodologies that promote the values that underpin them.
All the information is available on the congress website.
