It is available for free download the eBook “A Europa no Mundo e o Mundo na Europa. Crise e Identidade”, which integrates the proceedings of the Conference “Europe in the World and the World in Europe: Crisis and Identity” [A Europa no Mundo e o Mundo na Europa. Crise e Identidade], which took place on 18 June 19, 2015, at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho. The eBook, which is coordinated by Rita Ribeiro, Vítor de Sousa and Sheila Khan, is published by CECS, and intends to show the reflection on the antinomies that cross contemporary Europe in its multiple frames of relation with the world, through the communications of the event. The eBook is divided into four parts: “Europe: Belonging and Consciousness”; “Art with the world inside”; “Identity and average narratives”; and “Europe between the local and the global”.
“It was a question of discussing, in a context of krisis, the paths that are being offered to Europe, by calling what European culture was most dignified: critical thinking. Because Europe was made in the world, this conference was an opportunity to debate how Europe is positioned in the face of contemporary societal transformations, against the background of political and cultural relations woven by history”.
