ECREA 2020 in Braga: this year’s conference ends Saturday with Portuguese proposal

The closing session of the ECREA 2018 conference ends on Saturday with the formal presentation of the next conference to be held in Braga in 2020. At the time, Helena Sousa, a CECS researcher and president of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, will make public the video-invitation prepared in partnership by the Rectory of the University of Minho and the CECS.

With communications from diverse areas, the CECS was represented with more than a dozen researchers and communications. Anabela Carvalho, Ana Melo, Carla Cerqueira, Elsa Costa e Silva, Fábio Ribeiro, Helena Sousa, Inês Amaral, Joana Filol, João Gonçalves, Madalena Oliveira, Maria José Brites, Kamila Fernandes, Pedro Moura and Sara Pereira are authors of thematic papers such as journalism, public service, media production, citizenship and gender, advertising, radio and sound literacy, participation, among other topics.

Anabela Carvalho, Ana Duarte Melo, Helena Sousa and Madalena Oliveira, researchers from the CECS, will be moderators of some panels inserted in the sections of ECREA of which they are chair: Anabela Carvalho will moderate the session “Climate change news and journalism”, Ana Duarte Melo will coordinate the session “Corporate communication” and Madalena Oliveira will be responsible for the session “Radio, cultural identities and active listening”.

On the last day of the conference, Helena Sousa will be the coordinator of the special session on “The English language in academia: Identifying power structures, denaturalizing daily choices”.
