The Closing Conference of the PhD in Communication Studies: Technology, Culture and Society is scheduled for 15th December, at the Sala de Atos of the ICS.
Dedicated to the topic “Science and language policies, scientific publication and academic rankings”, the event will feature two plenary sessions. Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, will be present at the closing session.
Between 9.30 am and 6 pm, several researchers will reflect on science and language policies.
The morning plenary session will feature André Lemos, from the Federal University of Bahia, Anabela Gradim, from the University of Beira Interior, Antônio Hohlfeldt, from PUCRS, Porto Alegre, and Joseph Straubhaar, from the University of Austin. Helena Sousa, a researcher at CECS and member of the Scientific Council of Social Sciences and Humanities of FCT will be in charge of moderation.
In the afternoon, the plenary session will be attended by Paulo Peixoto, from the University of Coimbra, José Bragança de Miranda, from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Paulo Serra, from the University of Beira Interior, and Moisés de Lemos Martins, from the University of Minho.
The closing meeting of this doctoral programme will be attended by Manuel Heitor, Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Eugénio Campos Ferreira, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation of the University of Minho, Helena Machado, President of the ICS of the University of Minho, and Moisés de Lemos Martins, Director of the Communication and Society Research Centre.
