Ana Cristina Pereira, an integrated researcher at CECS, was one of the candidates selected by FCT for the 6th edition of the Individual Scientific Employment Stimulus Competition (CEEC Individual 2023).
The Communication and Society Research Centre presented 18 candidates for the CEEC Individual 2023, in areas such as Communication Sciences, Sociology, Arts and Cultural Studies. Ana Cristina Pereira won with her project ‘The Black Gaze: An Interdisciplinary Analysis of Afro-Lusophone Cinema as Counterpublics in Portugal’, in the scientific area of Arts.
In an interview, Ana Cristina Pereira spoke about her academic career, her project and the application process for the CEEC Individual.
According to the FCT, 2746 applications were evaluated in this 6th edition of the CEEC Individual. The 400 researchers selected fall into three contract categories: 193 Junior contracts, 158 Auxiliary contracts and 49 Principal contracts. In this edition, and in order to assess the merit of the applications in a qualitative way, the candidates were asked to present their scientific and curricular career in narrative form, describing their research trajectory.
The CEEC Individual is one of the instruments for funding the hiring of researchers defined by the Scientific Employment Regulation launched in 2017 by the FCT, and which has been held annually since 2018.
