CECS Summer School “Knowledge and Practice: Qualitative Methodologies in Social Sciences”

The Summer School “Knowledge and practice: qualitative methodologies in social sciences” will occur between June 6 and 9, 2022, at the Institute of Social Sciences, University of Minho.

Organized by the Communication and Society Research Centre, it is an opportunity for students, professionals, and young researchers to deepen their knowledge, train the application of qualitative methodologies in the social sciences, and establish and/or consolidate professional and academic networks.

The Summer School will involve training sessions, workshops, and feedback moments from colleagues and experienced researchers to foster interaction and critical thinking. A social and cultural program is also planned.

The team of trainers includes national and international lecturers and researchers from different scientific areas – communication sciences, education, cultural studies, history, psychology and sociology – with extensive and consolidated experience in qualitative research methodologies applied to themes such as migration, visual culture, postcolonial studies, social minorities, prisons, criminal investigation, psychotropic territories, amongst others.

Please refer to the Summer School website for more information about this initiative (provisional program, instructions on registration, etc.).

Two of the scheduled sessions are open to the public:

  • The opening conference, which takes place on June 6, at 10 am, in the Sala de Atos of the ICS: “Epistemological and methodological reflections on qualitative research in the Social Sciences”, with Licínio C. Lima, from the Institute of Education of the University of Minho.
