Event: Colonial (De)Visions: Dialogues in Visual Culture, Alterities and Artivisms

On 28 April, SOPCOM’s Visual Culture Working Group is organising the event ‘Colonial (De)Visions: Dialogues in Visual Culture, Alterities and Artivisms’ at the Lúcio Craveiro da Silva Library in Braga. The initiative aims to explore the intersections between visual culture, memory, colonial heritage and activism through guided tours, debates and film screenings.
This one-day event, whose working languages are Portuguese and English, will bring together researchers, artists and activists to foster critical debates about the colonial past and its impacts on contemporary society. The programme includes a guided tour of colonial monuments in Braga, a round table and the screening of short films produced as part of the MigraMediaActs project.

As well as this guided tour in the morning, which will be on-site, it is possible to watch the afternoon sessions remotely, which will also take place on-site, via online streaming (the link will be publicised soon).
All the sessions will be free of charge and are part of the pre-conference of the International Conference ‘Migrations and Communication in a Planetary Age: Debates and Actions’:
