Rodrigo Portella (Federal University of Juiz de Fora – Brazil) and Zbigniew Kazmierczak (University of Bialystok – Poland) were the protagonists of the Colloquium on the Sociology of Religion, which was held at the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho.
Portella spoke about the theme he developed in his post-doctorate (CAPES), at the CECS, under the supervision of researcher Joaquim Costa, under the theme “The senses of Mary: scenes and meanings in the historical development of Marian piety.” Zbigniew Kazmierczak spoke on “The reception of Catholic Teaching in contemporary Polish society”, highlighting the importance of the Polish Catholic Church in the times of the communist regime considering it as a strength of resistance against that political system.
