“Gender and Cultural Studies: contexts and intersections” at ICS debate

“To be (and grow old) Brazilian migrant in Portugal: experiences re-told in Stories of Life” and “The influence of the women journalists of TVE in the change of woman’s model of the Francoism to the democratic transition” will be the two presentations of the next session of the Permanent Seminar on Communication and Diversity, which will take place next Friday, June 15, starting at 2:30 pm, in the Institute of Social Sciences (ICS) of the University of Minho. The session will also feature commentary by researcher Sheila Khan.

The first presentation will be made by Camila Craveiro, Ph.D. in Communication Sciences, who through interviews of Life Stories conducted with Brazilian migrants in Portugal over 50 years old will analyze the integration strategies used by these women (such as race, ethnicity, gender, age, social class, nationality and migratory status) as potentials of experiences of oppression and privilege. The second will be carried out by the researcher Dunia Etura, who will analyze the influence that women journalists of TVE had on the change of the “woman model” in the period between Francoism and the democratic transition in Spain, centered its study on the program Weekly Report and content transmitted between 1973 and 1978.

This session is organized in partnership with the Communitas think tank and the admission is free.
