UMinho Theatre Improvisation Group performs at the Recomeço festival

ITUM, the Theatre Improvisation Group at UMinho, led by Fabiano Assis, will be performing on 19 September at the Recomeço Festival.

The performance, taking place at the Salão Medieval (Larço do Paço, Braga), entitled “As mulheres de Quem Viemos”, forms part of the CECS research group on Cultures, Arts and Communities. Fabiano Assis is a researcher and lecturer at the Institute of Social Sciences at UMinho, whose work focuses on theatrical practices.

The project brought together students, teachers and members of the community, regardless of their artistic experience, with the aim of creating a space for collective creation, diversity and connection through the language of theatrical improvisation, based on research into the language of Improvisational Theatre, in an educational context, which was awarded the IDEA UMinho 2025 Prize for Pedagogical Innovation and is now being expanded into this new context of community participation and artistic creation.

The Recomeço Festival, taking place from 17 to 19 September, is organised by the Cultural Council of the University of Minho and aims to mark the start of the new academic year through creativity and cultural appreciation. It will include a book fair, guided tours, picnics, social gatherings, concerts, theatre and performances, with activities taking place in Braga and Guimarães.
