II Meeting of the Tordesilhas Doctoral College “Languages, Societies and Cultures”

The II Meeting of the Tordesilhas Doctoral College “Languages, Societies and Cultures”, with Regina Brito and Ana Lúcia Trevisan, will take place on November 16th.

The morning will be dedicated to a meeting on research partnerships within the Tordesilhas Doctoral College that will begin at 11:00 am in the ICS multipurpose room.

At 2:00 p.m., the open lecture “Languages, Societies and Cultures – Communication Challenges in Multilinguistic Contexts” will take place. This session will discuss identity dynamics and communication challenges in multilingual contexts, based on two case studies. Regina Pires de Brito will address Brazil’s cooperation programs with other Portuguese-speaking countries, namely Mozambique and Timor-Leste. For her part, Ana Lúcia Trevisan will focus on the images of Brazilian history and culture in the narrative of the writer Milton Hatoum.

The meeting is organized by the CECS through the Ph.D. program in Cultural Studies and the Permanent Seminar on Communication and Diversity. The researcher of the CECS, Rosa Cabecinhas, will be the moderator of this session.
