The exhibition “The Silence of the Land: (post)colonial visualities intersected by the Diamang Archive” takes place in two different spaces, the Paço Gallery and the Nogueira da Silva Museum (University of Minho), and is open to the public between April 30th and June 30th – September 10th.
The exhibition aims to discuss the photographic archive of the Companhia de Diamantes de Angola (Museu Nogueira da Silva), set up with the explicit aim of documenting the civilisational mission undertaken in Lunda between 1917 and 1974. The exhibition embodies one of the results of the research project “Mapping and Critical Senses of the Photographic Archive of the Company Companhia de Diamantes de Angola (Diamang)”, coordinated by Fátima Moura Ferreira (University of Minho).
At the Paço Gallery, the exhibition is open for visits until 30 June, from Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. At Museu Nogueira da Silva, it may be visited until September 11, during the same opening hours.

Individual and group visits
Besides the individual visits at the times already referred to, group visits begin on 8 May (by appointment, from Monday to Saturday, from 10h00 to 12h30 and from 14h00 to 18h00), with the presence of the curatorial team, artists, the educational service team and a group of assistants, with specific training about the exhibition, who will guide these visits (undergraduate and Master students in the areas of History, Visual Arts and Cultural Heritage from the University of Minho and trainees in the area of Tourism).
Two artistic workshops are also offered: Monotype workshop with gelatine and Cyanotype workshop. These are aimed at different types of public according to their particular needs and characteristics. The conception and promotion of these workshops is made by the students of the Visual Arts degree of UMinho, in coordination with Patrícia Leal and Paula Simões. The workshops take place on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons from 17 May until 29 June at Museu Nogueira da Silva. lThe target public are students from pre-school to secondary school.
