Ana Filipa Oliveira is a PhD in Communication Studies from the University of Minho. She is a guest lecturer in the Media and Information Literacy and Digital Citizenship at the Universidade Lusófona do Porto.

Professor Sara Pereira supervised her PhD research on creative media production in formal educational contexts and the promotion of media literacy and citizenship in schools. Her research was funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) (SFRH / BD / 126433/2016).

She has a degree in Communication Sciences, and a Master’s in Marketing and worked for several years as a trainer and Marketing and Communication Manager. She was part of the Portuguese team of the SMaRT-Eu project (LC-01563446) and has collaborated with other European projects. Furthermore, she is currently participating in the national project YOuNDigital (PTDC/COM-OUT/0243/2021) and the European project INCOOP – Strengthening Civic Participation in the Operation of Inter-Municipal and Inter-Sectorial Actors in Europe (621901-CITIZ-1-2020-1-SK-CITIZ-NT).

She is the YECREA representative for the Children, Youth and Media section. She is also an active member of various national and international associations and networks such as the Portuguese Association for Communication Sciences (Sopcom) and IAMCR – International Association for Media and Communication Research. Ana Filipa collaborates with numerous NGOs, institutions and informal groups promoting meetings and educational activities for children and young people focused on citizenship, society, media and creativity, namely the Portuguese Communications Foundation and the “Culture, Media, and Citizenship Reading Group”.

Her research interests include youth, participation and civic engagement; creative media production; media education; digital identities and cultures; participatory methodologies; civic cultures; critical pedagogies; transformative learning; teacher skills, new educational environments & pedagogical approaches.
