Ângela Ferreira (Berlinde, Porto, 1975) is an artist, curator and researcher, with a transnational career spanning Portugal, Brazil, China and India. She holds a PhD in Art Education (University of Minho), a postdoctoral degree in Interdisciplinary Poetics (EBA-UFRJ, Brazil) and a Master’s degree in Digital Photography (Utrecht School of Arts, Netherlands). Her research and practice focus on hybrid forms of photography, editorial poetics and decolonial thinking. Co-founder of the Encontros da Imagem Festival, she was its general and artistic director, and since 2018 she has been the artistic director of FotoFestival SOLAR (Brazil). She is a member of the international curatorial association Oracle and the Board of Curators of the Fortaleza Museum of Photography. As an independent curator, she has conceived and participated in international festivals and exhibitions, including the Beijing Photography Biennial, the Korea International Photo Festival and GoaPhoto (India). She is a Guest Assistant Professor at the University of Minho (EAAD) and Lusófona University (ULHT), and co-founder of NERVO – Photobook Observatory in Portugal.
