Carlos Camponez (1964) is a lecturer at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra.
His main areas of research are ethics and deontology of journalism and media, socio-professional issues of journalism and regional/local journalism.
He was the director of the Degree and Master in Journalism and Communication of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra and one of the founders of Mediapolis – Revista de Comunicação, Jornalismo e Espaço Público, which he directed during its first 14 editions.
He is President of Lusocom, the confederation of communication science associations of the Luso-Galician-Asian-Afro-Brazilian cultural and linguistic countries and communities, and vice-president of Sopcom, the Portuguese Association of Communication Sciences. He is a journalist (CP 503) and vice-president of the Deontological Council of the Journalists’ Union.
