PhD in Education Sciences from the University of Porto in 2020, Carolina Jardim has built her academic path developing qualitative research with young people, especially in the field of civic participation. During her Master’s degree she did a study with an ethnographic approach on European youth volunteering, entitled “Coming from Europe…meanings and commitments of an experience of European Voluntary Service”. As part of her PhD, she developed a multi-case study on the participation of young people with a migrant background entitled “The participation of young people with a migrant background: the multifaceted role of immigrant associations in Portugal”.

Her main research interests are civic participation of young people and children, youth cultures, young people and the media, digital literacy and non-formal education contexts.
