Journalist, Master in Communication and PhD student in Public Policy at the Federal University of Paraná, Brazil, where she is developing her thesis on the mechanisms blocking the Regulation of the Brazilian Media, Ester Athanásio is currently doing a doctoral internship at the Centre for Communication and Society Studies (CECS), at the University of Minho, Portugal.

She is a fellow of the Young Leaders of Americas Initiative (YLAI), a former member of Global Shapers Brazil and 2nd place in the Curitibana Entrepreneur Award. Founder of DePropósito Comunicação de Causas, she has worked as a social entrepreneur and led several socio-environmental impact projects, especially media literacy campaigns.

In 2022, she dedicated herself to the topic of climate policies and the Amazon at the Talanoa Institute, when she travelled to Egypt for COP27 and produced the second season of the podcast A Terra é Redonda Mesmo, a partnership with Revista piauí. In 2023, she led the Public Policy and Advocacy strategy at the Aurora Institute for Human Rights Education. She has experience as a university lecturer and has accumulated training in the fields of politics, communication and the socio-environmental impact ecosystem.
