Currently serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Humanities, Arts and Communication at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Fábio Ribeiro teaches in several curricular units related to Journalism (Press, Radio) and Sociology of Communication. He finished his European PhD in Communication Sciences in 2013, in the field of Sociology of Communication, by the University of Minho, including a visiting research period in the PUBLIRADIO research group at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

His research focus on citizens’ participation in the media, local and community media, and science communication.

He is a member of Sopcom (The Portuguese Association for the Communication Sciences), vice-chair of the “Radio and Sound Studies” section, since 2017, and ECREA. Fábio Ribeiro carried out an internship as a journalist in news radio TSF, as well as a communication consultant in the business scope and science and technology manager.
