He has a PhD in Sociology, in the year 2017, at the Universidade do Minho, and defended the thesis “Alto Minho: Horizonte 2040 – Prospetiva Demográfica e Social (Que Presente para o Futuro?)”. It focuses its research in the area of demography, with emphasis on the themes of birth and fertility.
He currently works as a consultant. He was a teacher of higher education, as well as exercised the functions of leader in Public Administration. He was an autarch (member of the Municipal Assembly and councilor of the City Council), for several terms, and deputy to the Assembly of the Republic.
He has published, in the press, several articles of opinion, especially of social and political scope.
