Francisco da Silva Costa has been a professor in the Department of Geography at the University of Minho (Portugal) since 1998. He holds a Ph.D. in Geography – Specialization “Physical Geography and Environmental Studies since 2008 and an extensive scientific production in several journals indexed in topics related to planning and the management of water resources, the risk of flooding, the restoration of rivers and hydraulic heritage. He already has more than twenty book chapters and published books. Participated in various events abroad and in Portugal. He was a visiting professor at the University of Limoges and, recently, in Paris VII (France).
He coordinates and participates in several projects, including ARCHIV-AVE – Digital memory “Documentary heritage of the Ave basin” with the support of the Portuguese Environment Agency. He has editorial participation and a reviewer function in more than two dozen magazines and newspapers, highlighting his participation as an evaluator in the recent world congresses on water (IWA) and nature conservation (IUCN).
