Gargi holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology with a first class from IGNOU University – India(2011)and a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Calcutta – India(2009).

She carried out a field project and published an article on a non-governmental organization working for the upliftment of tribal girl children in a remote area of West Bengal, India. She has attended seminars and conferences and presented papers on various Sociological issues in India. Currently, she is a collaborator of the Portuguese SHARE team (Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe) developing research on aging in India, using data from LASI project (Longitudinal Aging Study in India).
