Helena Sousa was President of the Institute of Social Sciences of the University of Minho, has a PhD in the City University, in London, in 1996. Full Professor in the University of Minho, she is in charge of the coordination of several pedagogical and scientific projects within the institute.
Her main research interests include media policy and regulation topics, as well as the particular intersection of the political economy of communication with journalism. She has participated (as chair and vice-chair) in the coordination of the Political Economy section of IAMCR. Editor of the European Journal of Communication, Helena Sousa is also Full Member of the EuroMedia Research Group.
