Joana Pimentel Alves is a sociologist with a PhD (2017), a Master’s (2011) and a degree in Sociology (2009) from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Coimbra. She has participated in several research projects since 2009 in disability studies, social policies, independent living, care, inclusive education and accessible tourism.
She has been a tutor at Universidade Aberta. She is also the co-author of several articles published in national and international scientific journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters. She has presented several papers at conferences and seminars.
Recently, she co-edited the book Cocriação de experiências turísticas acessíveis: conceitos, ferramentas e aplicações (Co-creation of accessible tourism experiences: concepts, tools and applications; UA Editora, 2022)”.
